RSS Notification System in Words (?)

What if the software were able to recieve RSS notifications from web blogs and sites you read regularly, so that you can be remided... but then that wouldn't really help because people are already reading their RSS stuff from wherever they are and would probably not want to move away from that. But still the provisioning should be available for the program to parse web blog content (of course).
