Award For The Worst Online Login / Password Changing UI: Westpac Bank

Possibly the worst online password change I've ever experienced.jpg
The grey space above point 3. previously showed 2 other such boxes asking for my original, then my new password, which I had to type in with my mouse, on a non qwerty onscreen keyboard. Apparently intuition is to suggest that I have two other steps to go after the first, because of the size of the box. Isn't ajax meant to make things easier?

The login screen for my online banking now uses this system as well. It SUCKS

New Confirming Method

Walking home from the gym yesterday, I had a brainwave - users
shouldn't need to use a special window to confirm which translations
are correct - they can use a pop up directly from the main window to
quickly clarify which definition they want added to the word. This
way words that they don't particularly NEED the definitions for right
then can be just left. Those which are unambiguous are added
automatically.

I think this system is more heuristic in that it allows the user to
confirm definitions when it suits them, even if the process is
incomplete. The option to clarify will always be there, but the user
can choose to ignore it.

I drew some sketches in my notebook as I had my coffee at Phillippa's
to illustrate my point.

Services Menu

I've got the services menu adding individual words from any application into words, which adds it to persistent storage. I can actually start to use Words in my daily life now as I develop it, by 'populate'-ing words that I don't understand to the application.

An Encouraging Disappointment...

Dear Andrew,

Thanks for the email. I'm of course dissapointed as I was looking forward
to the opportunities of the scholarship.

I will however keep up to date with the website and apply for other
opportunities offered by the AUC, so you'll be hearing my name again
soon!

Thanks again,

Mathieu Tozer

The AUC also offers students a number of other opportunities throughout the year including Student Scholarships to attend Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference, training, seminars and other activities. Please check the AUC web site regularly for updates.
