Well, I've been quiet here these past few months, but it's because of the commencement of university really! I am still active in my development projects, however slowly. They have diversified, and I have become interested in web development, namely Ruby on Rails, and often have ideas for social software.
I am reading a lot - and constantly learning about the online technology community.
This is my final year at uni. I am going to apply for some graduate jobs for the hell of it - to see what kind response I get back. If some of them are appealing, then who knows... I will also try for some Japanese companies. I want to work with technology. That much is known at least!
It's tough concentrating on so many things at once. As a reward, I sometimes treat myself of a Cocoa tutorial. This weeks: Doing a tutorial with the classic example of Embloyee Department relationship often employed in teaching database stuff. It is the document that I was referenced from the question that I asked on the mailing list. I figured I'd better get the basics before anything else.
I've been doing, for my curricular work, lots of Analysis and Design for CSE3308. I'm finding it is what I have done many times for the Words project and more, but in a more formalised way, and I am putting more effort into it. I am enjoying it, but sometimes it gets tedious because I have to write down every single detail and it gets a mess sometimes.
I am MEANT to have been writing a perl script as an assignment, but as yet have not started. It's a bit of a worry because I don't have any prior experience in perl. I'll try to get started on it this week.
I have been looking around for other Mac people at my stage of development to work with, but as yet have had no luck. I have been in contact with the CS faculty asking whether I can do a Mac based final project next semester, which would be right up my alley, and I have a couple of leads on who might be able to mentor me.
I feel like I want to have something solid and made to take with me out of university, but with time constraints, it's going to be very difficult to do.
